Little Dreams Daycare, owned by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, has been providing childcare to the community of Lac du Flambeau since 1992 and is making it a priority to license the program as a group childcare center. Current enrollment is open to children ages 2 ½ to 12, with space to grow the program to approximately thirty children. The center is currently working through the licensing process and will be licensed within the next six months, with plans to include infants and toddlers in the future.
Kim Domini is the new Director for Little Dreams Day Care, located in the William Wildcat Tribal Center across the street from Lake of the Torches Casino in Lac du Flambeau. Her educational background is in Early Childhood Education from Nicolet Technical College. She was the Director and Lead Teacher at YMCA Camp Jorn Preschool and Childcare Center from 1998 to 2003, helping create a licensed preschool childcare program and a licensed day camp program for school age children. She has also been employed as an early childhood teacher at Terri’s Treehouse in Arbor Vitae.
Domini has lived in the Lakeland Area for almost thirty years, moving first to Lac du Flambeau, where she was owner of the Fish’n Bum and D-Bar-D Resort from 1988 – 1996. Her last employment was as the Woodruff Town Clerk. Domini has twenty-seven year old twin sons, Mike and Matt Domini and became grandma to twin baby boys this past March! Domini will be gaining two “daughters” in 2018 as both of her sons will be getting married then. In her free time, she hikes, kayaks, snowshoes and recently learned to sail!
Domini is looking forward to creating a licensed child care program in Lac du Flambeau that provides a safe, nurturing environment with a play-based curriculum to help the children grow and develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically, while respecting them as unique individuals. Her goal is to provide an environment rich in diversity and literacy focusing on enhancing healthy social/emotional skills with age appropriate materials using a play-based curriculum. The early years are the most formative learning years. Providing quality programming for children is her passion.
The classroom will be set up in multiple learning centers such as math/science, reading, writing, blocks/manipulatives, home and family, music and art. Domini will welcome any community members into the classroom to share their gifts and talents with the children.
Little Dreams Daycare will begin by accepting children ages 2 ½ to 12, due to current available space, with intent to grow the program as they continue to remodel the day care center. Plans are to accept infants and toddlers in the future. The hours will be 6:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. Contact Domini at 715-588-3303 or dial direct 715-588-4223, to inquire or register your child/children.
